The Quiet Before the Storm

This isn’t another mash of slow-mo roost and guitar riffs. This is Bienvenido Aguado’s RAMPAGE MEMOIR! It’s the part where Bienve talks about why he shows up to the steepest stage in freeride, and how he holds steady. It touches on Bienve’s first time at Redbull Rampage, and his successes and failures over the years. It’s human, honest and it’s 100% Bienve.

We filmed the interview in Red Rock Bicycle CO, outside of Virgin Utah, and the b-roll (scenes of riding, landscape, etc) is a mix of archived footage from Bienve over the years, and footage we shot with Bienve back in July. The axis of this film is Bienve talking about the fears he acknowledges, the risk he measures, and his pure love for the sport; it’s his why behind the send.

On Location with Bienve (Yes, He Asked for More Dust)

We spent a week chasing that late-afternoon light while grabbing interview windows between shovel sessions. What stood out was Bienve’s attitude. We all hear that when you meet athletes in person, they are “Down-to-earth”, “grounded”, and “just like us”. And although those are cliche terms…it perfectly describes how Bienve is in person. He was fun and yet laser-focused when it mattered, and somehow still making the whole crew laugh.

Favorite moment for me? We were lining up a little movie magic shot for the shr-edit, a close up to show high energy and dust flying in Bienve’s face as he descends a line. I was capturing some behind the scenes photos of this little set up.

Anyway, we needed dust-tech (just someone to throw dirt into Bienve’s face. Bienve did have goggles and a helmet on). Anyway, the first few attempts were…”good efforts” albeit not even really hitting Bienve. It was at this point Bienve breaks into a grin and yells:

Throw it like you mean it!
Next take: full face of roost. He cracked up, we cracked up, the frame was perfect. That’s Bienve for ya, all-in and still stoked, even when the shot requires literally eating dirt.

We’ll drop that photo here.

The Craft Over the Hype

When the cameras weren’t rolling, Bienve was mapping angles, reading wind, and workshopping tiny details that never make a highlight reel. He was fine tuning his bike and his lines, making sure everything was set before the send. That quiet tinkering is why the loud moments work. The film catches that balance: the gymnast’s precision wrapped around a freerider’s grit.

If you want the quick hit, the Shred-It we dropped earlier is here. It rips, but the Memoir is the deep dive, the behind-the-rider version.

What You’ll Hear in the Film

  • On fear: It never leaves; it sharpens.
  • On flow: It’s earned with reps.
  • On purpose: The love of riding is the engine.

We built the visuals to match the words, desert wide shots for breath, intimate interview frames for truth, and just enough speed to let the stillness land.

Why We Made This (Tannus POV)

At Tannus, we’re here for the ride and the rider. Gear matters, reliability, confidence, protection, but the heart of it all is the person choosing the line. Working with Bienve in person reminded us why we do what we do: to back the moments that matter, from first dig to final drop.
