Every year the bike world likes to talk about big shifts that might happen soon. New promises that sound exciting on paper. But 2025 felt different, it was a year where the trends finally showed up on actual trails, in bike shops, in neighborhoods, and on early morning commutes.
This year had its challenges. We had prices go up in some places. Dealers and bike shops had to rethink how they stocked their shelves. Riders became more careful with where and how they spent money. Even with the challenges, there was a real sense of forward motion in 2025. A steady shift of a community figuring out what it wants next.
And what people want is pretty clear when you take a look back over the last 12 months.
E-Bikes Took Over the Conversation for Good
For years we have all heard that e-bikes were the future. This year they became the present! They were everywhere from singletrack, to gravel routes. They were seen pulling kids to school in cargo carriers or sitting outside coffee shops with other commuter bikes.
E-bikes changed the demographics of riders nationwide, with older riders jumping in faster than any other group. New riders who hadn’t touched a bike as an adult decided to start with an e-bike. Even weekend warriors started choosing electric assist for long routes because it let them go further without feeling wrecked on Monday.
This shift lifted the entire industry and placed more attention on reliability and flat protection than ever before. Driving a bigger demand for products like Tannus Armour and Airless, so that riders could focus more on riding and less on road side repairs.
Urban Mobility Finally Became Real for More Riders
Cities made a lot of progress this year too. With more of them dedicating protected bike lanes, and more inclusive commuter programs. Leading to even more people choosing a bike over a car for their daily commutes.
It was not a perfect transformation, traffic still felt stressful in some places and honestly we still got a long way to go as a nation, but there were steady moves made in the right direction. People rode to save money on gas, to avoid the nightmare of parking. They rode because being outside for even ten quiet minutes on the way to work feels better than being stuck in a line of cars.
This push toward daily riding helped the whole industry find its balance again. Bikes started to became dependable tools for everyday life.
The Economy Changed How People Bought Bikes
The economic pressure of 2025 showed up everywhere. Tariffs bumped prices and some (or a lot of) brands raised costs. Dealers ordered less inventory and got pickier about what they brought into their shops.
Riders were fed up spending money on things that didn’t hold up, and place more focus on value. That shift opened the door for brands that focus on real world durability with honest prices. The exact space Tannus and Vee Tire Co was built to hold.
It was a hard year in some ways, but it helped the industry find some honesty again. Now the companies that listen and adapt will come out stronger.
The Cycling Community Grew in New Directions
One of the most encouraging parts of 2025 was the shift in who was riding. More older riders got back into the market. More women made big waves in the gravel and mountain biking world, and more families took their first long trail rides together.
This broader community changed the tone of the industry. It made room for new voices and pushed brands to think about safety, comfort, and inclusivity more seriously.
It also highlighted one simple truth, that people want to ride. People want a bike that will not leave them stranded or frustrated when things go wrong. Again, this makes flat protection and dependable gear more important than ever.
Adventure Riding Kept Climbing
2025 was a year that people chased adventure! Gravel events grew, bikepacking routes became more popular, and riders found ways to squeeze in overnight trips and early morning loops before work.
Adventure became less about bragging rights and more about clearing your head and finding a little peace outside of the city. Quite frankly the bike industry needs more of that. The riders need more of that and 2025 gave it plenty of room to grow.
So What Do We Take From All This
2025 was not the easiest year for the bike world, but it was an important one. The industry figured out what mattered. If you zoom out, the story is simple. People are still riding. They are riding differently than they did ten years ago, but the desire to move, to explore, to get outside, and to avoid flats at all costs is stronger than ever.
At Tannus we are here for that. We build products that make riding more dependable and more enjoyable. We are not trying to impress anyone, we are simply trying to make the ride better so people can focus on the reason they ride in the first place.
Freedom. Adventure. Connection. A little peace in a noisy world.
That was the story of 2025. And if we are being honest, it feels like the beginning of something even better.
